Silver fox and baby Afghan

October 26, 2017

I have a new and sudden love for all things Amigurumi! Amigurumi is the art of crocheting dolls and animals. This is my first attempt and I have some wonderful tips of how to do things better than I did.

I have been crocheting for 36 years I started when I was six years old. Blankets come easy and I’m always looking for something new to challenge myself. This cute little silver fox was a fun first project. Following the patterns are a must on these little guys but I can see how I could easily adjust and come up with some of my own ideas in the future.

First and foremost on this project I would attach the front legs a little higher. One of the things that I did do that was not in the pattern was tacked down the front legs in two places which held it much more secure and help that stand up straight. You need to be careful with dark yarn to not over stuff the legs or you will see the white batting.

My second tip is to make sure that your stitches are uniform and tight this will also help so that you do not see the white batting.

My third tip is to pin all of the separate pieces into place before you start to stitch them on I will be able to do a video later on a wonderful invisible stitch that makes putting the pieces on looks seamless. Also when attaching the smaller pieces you need to count to make sure you are centered and that the legs are even and on the same row

This project is best sat on a Shelf rather than loved by a little one. Having wee Littles I know they love to put everything in their mouth and this is not conducive to that. Having used synthetic yarn washing it should be no problem. I would love to hear your comments on this and I will post more in the future along with tips and patterns
